THE UNPOPULAR OPINIONS BOOK TAG!
Hey everyone, Victoria here! And today I wanted to do another tag, which is going to be the unpopular opinions book tag! I'm super excited to do this tag, so let's just jump right in!
You can check out the ORIGINAL creator of this tag's video HERE!
~QUESTIONS~
1. A POPULAR BOOK OR SERIES THAT YOU DIDN'T LIKE
I'm probably going to have to go with the Divergent Series on this one. I know this isn't that surprising since a lot of people have mixed feelings on this series. I read Divergent...wow let me think back...probably 4 or 5 years ago. I liked it at the time I guess you could say, but never made it through Insurgent. This book just has so many YA tropes that I couldn't continue reading it. The plot is pretty interesting overall I guess, but a bit overdone. I did enjoy the movies slightly more than the books though!
2. A POPULAR BOOK OR SERIES THAT EVERYONE SEEMS TO HATE BUT YOU LOVE
Love this thriller/horror novel! Though it got TERRIBLE reviews on Goodreads, I would say to give it a try if you're into a lot of horror/gore. It really surprised me how quickly I read this one considering I picked it up on a whim.
3. A LOVE TRIANGLE WHERE THE MAIN CHARACTER ENDED UP WITH THE PERSON YOU DID NOT WANT THEM TO END UP WITH OR AN OTP YOU DON'T LIKE
An OTP that I don't like: Mare and Cal from the Red Queen Series. Though I only did read Red Queen and Glass Sword, I still just didn't think they were good for each other. Although Maven is the antagonist of these novels, I think he was a better developed character than Cal, so I would've prefered him to end up with Mare. Also, these books were SUPER slow for me so I lost interest in their relationship very quickly.
4. A POPULAR BOOK GENRE THAT YOU HARDLY REACH FOR
Nonfiction. I just don't really like reading about a lot of true stories and often find myself getting bored easily. I can do historical fiction, but that's as far as I'll go with books based on/inspired by real events. I mostly read as an escape from the real world, so I enjoy reading about fantastical places instead of reading all informational text.
5. A POPULAR OR BELOVED CHARACTER THAT YOU DO NOT LIKE
Maybe Oli from Everything Everything. I just didn't think that he was a good match with Maddie. I wouldn't say I don't like him/hate him, I just think there could've been a better guy that would've been more interesting to read about in the story.
6. A POPULAR AUTHOR YOU JUST CAN'T SEEM TO GET INTO
Sarah J. Maas. I own both Throne of Glass and A Court of Thorns and Roses, but I have yet to read either. The books just seem so long and I'm unsure if I'm ready to commit to a series as long as the Throne of Glass series is.
7. A POPULAR BOOK TROPE THAT YOU'RE TIRED OF SEEING
Probably love triangles. In some books, they are ok. If the author makes it work well within the story, I don't have much of a problem with it. But sometimes I'm just really over the debating between the two guys type of thing.
8. A POPULAR SERIES THAT YOU HAVE NO INTEREST IN READING
Harry Potter. Fantasy usually isn't my thing, and I think I've passed the time frame of when it would be ok for me to start this series. I have just never had any interest in starting this series and I probably will never read it. Sorry to all the Harry Potter fans that I could possibly be offending with my response!
9. THE SAYING GOES, "THE BOOK IS ALWAYS BETTER THAN THE MOVIE", BUT WHAT MOVIE OR T.V. SHOW ADAPTATION DO YOU PREFER MORE THAN THE BOOK?
A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. Had to read this book for school and thought it was meh, but the movie was better in my opinion. So if you've never watched the movie, I suggest giving it a try. And don't watch the recent Disney remake, be sure to watch the old school classic version!
